The '2026 Gapyeong 9 Sights Walking Expedition,' an event focused on promoting health against the backdrop of Gapyeong County's beautiful natural scenery, will begin on April 20. On April 15, the Gapyeong County Public Health Center announced that it has organized this program to prevent obesity among residents and to increase the rate of walking practice.
Registration for participation started on April 13, with the program recruiting 80 residents of Gapyeong County aged 19 or older. The participation process is simple: after installing the official walking app of Gapyeong County on a smartphone, join the public health center community and click 'Participate' in the relevant challenge.
This walking expedition will run for 72 days, from April 20 until June 30. During this period, participants will incorporate walking into their daily lives and visit the '9 Sights of Gapyeong,' which are renowned spots in the county, collecting stamps at each location. However, the third sight, Yongchu Valley, will be excluded from this course due to unavoidable circumstances.
To be certified, participants must achieve a total goal of 250,000 steps (with a daily limit of 6,000 steps) and complete the stamp tour at all designated locations except for Yongchu Valley. All certifications will be processed automatically through the app, so it is recommended to update the app in advance and set the location permission to 'always allow' for smooth participation.
An official from Gapyeong County stated, "Among those participants who complete both the walking and stamp tour, 80 people will be selected by lottery to receive a sun shield hat (Shield Hat). However, if residency in Gapyeong County cannot be verified or any fraudulent activity, such as using a device to manipulate results, is detected, the prize may be revoked."
