The Saemaeul Association and Women's Association, both grassroots organizations in Odong-dong, Happo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongsangnam-do, carried out volunteer activities to dispose of household items for low-income households living in vulnerable housing conditions.
This initiative targeted households where the head of the family is hospitalized for an extended period due to health problems, and who have neither dependents nor guardians. The beneficiaries were selected through thorough discussions between members of the Association and the Women's Association.
On the 14th, members divided the work in detail to ensure efficient activity. Male members of the Saemaeul Association were responsible for disposing of heavy household items such as furniture and refrigerators, tidying up the living space. Female members of the Women's Association handled house cleaning and meticulous finishing and organization, leaving the home in a neat and orderly state.
The Saemaeul Association and Women's Association in Odong-dong are local grassroots organizations with a long-standing tradition. They have led volunteer activities every year, serving as exemplary models of public-private cooperation. This volunteer service is also part of their ongoing, sustainable efforts to support the lives of local residents.
President Park Suwon stated, "The voluntary division of work and cooperation among our members provided practical help to vulnerable households," adding, "We will continue to support the local community with the Saemaeul spirit."
Women's Association President Kim Yunsook commented, "The delicate touch of our female members played a major role in organizing the living spaces for these households. Such activities will serve as a foundation for community welfare."
Community leader Seong Aeran praised the dedication of the Saemaeul Association and Women's Association, calling their efforts the pride of Odong-dong's welfare, and pledged ongoing cooperation and support from the local administration.
