On April 15, Chinese e-commerce platform Temu announced that it has joined the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC) as part of its intellectual property (IP) protection program.
The IACC is an organization dedicated to preventing counterfeiting and illegal copying, with participation from more than 250 companies and institutions across over 40 countries worldwide. In May last year, Temu signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the IACC and joined as a founding member of the Marketplace Advisory Council (MAC), an inter-industry forum that includes online marketplaces, payment service providers, and global brands.
Temu will participate as a General Member of the IACC and plans to further strengthen collaboration with brands, industry associations, and enforcement agencies throughout its network. The company also intends to participate in working groups from various sectors to share expertise and promote joint efforts for global intellectual property protection and enhanced consumer safety.
Temu’s intellectual property enforcement system operates at every stage of the platform, including seller verification, pre-listing product reviews, and 24/7 continuous monitoring. Its proactive monitoring database covers over 6,700 brands, and includes more than 38 million images and over 9 million keywords. The company explained that more than 99.9% of all removal requests are processed within three business days, with the average processing time being less than one business day.
A Temu representative stated, “Protecting intellectual property is essential for building a marketplace that consumers and brands can trust,” adding, “Joining the IACC demonstrates Temu’s ongoing commitment to IP protection.”
