The Audit Committee Forum announced that it will hold its regular forum on May 15 at The Westin Josun Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul.
The Audit Committee Forum is a non-profit organization jointly established in 2018 by the four major accounting firms in Korea (Samil, Samjeong, Anjin, and Hanyoung) to enhance accounting transparency and strengthen the expertise of auditors and audit committee members. Its aim is to support the capacity building of auditors and audit committees through regular forums and online training courses.
The regular forum will review major corporate issues and discuss the role of governance bodies, targeting auditors and audit committee members.
In the first session, Cho Dongchul, Professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management and former Monetary Policy Committee member at the Bank of Korea, will diagnose recent macroeconomic trends and key domestic risk factors under the theme of "Prospects and Challenges for the Korean Economy," and will present directions for corporate responses. This will be followed by a presentation from Kim Hakbeom, Partner of the Integrated Financial Services Group in the Audit and Assurance Division at Deloitte Korea, on "The Evolution of Governance Roles and Supervising Responsible AI Governance in the AI Era."
This forum is sponsored by the Financial Services Commission and the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the Audit Committee Forum website.
A representative from the Audit Committee Forum stated, "In an environment where both macroeconomic uncertainty and technological change are expanding simultaneously, the role of corporate governance bodies is extending beyond simple oversight to strategic supervisory functions," and added, "We hope this forum will provide practical insights, enabling auditors and audit committee members to effectively respond to these changes."
