원본보기 아이콘Sky Worldwide (SKAI), a company specializing in knowledge graph-based hybrid AI agent and database solutions, has partnered with OliveTech, a leading secure storage company, to secure next-generation data security technology. On April 14, the two companies announced that they had signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) aimed at developing technology that fundamentally blocks data deletion and tampering.
Recently, as cloud migration in the public and government sectors accelerates and the use of AI agents expands, data integrity and security have emerged as core issues. In particular, as the government pursues its goal of converting 90% of existing systems to cloud-native by 2030, demand is increasing for fundamental security technology that protects the data itself, driven by rising threats such as ransomware and AI-based hacking.
Through this collaboration, the two companies plan to jointly develop a 'WORM DBMS' solution that combines Sky Worldwide’s PostgreSQL-based DBMS 'AgensSQL' with OliveTech’s WORM (Write Once Read Many) secure storage technology.
The company explained, "In AI and cloud environments, it is essential to build a structure that proactively prevents data tampering and deletion," adding, "By combining the technologies of both companies, we aim to implement a new data protection method that surpasses existing security frameworks."
WORM technology is a method that prevents data from being modified or deleted once stored, and it has been essential in fields requiring immutability, such as financial transaction records, public administration data, medical records, and legal evidence. However, existing implementations have typically been limited to the hardware or file system level, leaving open possibilities for circumvention through operating system or administrator privileges.
To address these structural issues, the two companies plan to develop 'K-WORM DBMS,' which applies WORM functionality directly within the database itself. This would establish a structure in which, once data is stored, it cannot be modified, deleted, or tampered with-not only within the database, but also at the operating system level.
OliveTech holds over a 95% market share in the PDS sector and is a specialized secure storage company that has supplied solutions to more than 500 public and financial institutions, including the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Education, National Pension Service, Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service, and Samsung Card. Sky Worldwide, meanwhile, has built its competitiveness through 'AgensSQL,' focusing on large-scale data processing, stability, and scalability.
Given that even global DBMS companies have rarely implemented a complete WORM DB system, this partnership is expected to serve as an opportunity to secure differentiated competitiveness in the next-generation data security infrastructure market.
Jaehyuk Shin, CEO of Sky Worldwide, stated, "Our goal is to develop a domestic WORM DBMS capable of responding to a wide range of security threats, including ransomware," adding, "We will enhance our competitiveness in the global market through solutions that can be applied across all industries where data integrity is critical."
Meanwhile, Sky Worldwide is expanding its technical cooperation and partnerships with promising domestic companies through its 'SKAI Partners' consortium. By leveraging its core technologies in AI agents and DBMS, the company aims to generate synergy and solidify its role as a central player in building the K-AI data infrastructure ecosystem.
