Gangwon Tourism Foundation (CEO Choi Sunghyun) announced that the first offline event for the '2026 Ogam Trail' project, which is being promoted to revitalize trail tourism in Gangwon, will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Sumsum Mountain Dulle-gil in Wonju, with more than 1,200 participants expected to attend.
This event is a hybrid participation program that combines trail running and trekking, designed to accommodate everyone from active participants who enjoy trail running to general tourists who prefer to walk leisurely and appreciate nature. The course is subdivided according to difficulty level, allowing participants to freely select a route that suits their fitness and objectives.
'Ogam Trail' is an experiential program that naturally incorporates the five senses-seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and feeling-into the course. For this Wonju event, the program is designed to allow participants to fully experience the charm of Gangwon surrounded by the beautiful natural scenery of Sumsum Mountain Dulle-gil. Participants will be able to visually enjoy the scenic landscapes along the mountain and valley course, listen to the sounds of the valley water, take in the fresh forest scents, taste local foods, and directly experience unique sensations that can only be found on the Sumsum Mountain Dulle-gil.
Before the main event, a variety of activities such as an airball event, a stick-catching game, and the 'Run Gangwon' program will be offered, as well as booths selling local specialty products, providing participants with plenty to see and enjoy even before the start.
Additionally, the event will be linked to the ongoing 'Ogam Trail Certification Challenge,' allowing participants to complete trail course certification on the day of the event through a location-based application (BAC App), further enhancing the engagement and enjoyment of the experience.
Participants will receive items such as a T-shirt, medal, sports equipment, and snacks (depending on the participation fee), as well as a 5,000-won local gift certificate that can be used at traditional markets and tourist attractions in the Wonju area. This is intended to encourage participants to explore the region and experience stay-type tourism and local consumption even after the event.
As the first offline event of the '2026 Ogam Trail,' anticipation is high both inside and outside the foundation. While last year opened up new possibilities for walking tourism in Gangwon, this year's program, which incorporates running and trail elements, is expected to attract a wider range of participants with its more advanced format.
Choi Sunghyun, CEO of Gangwon Tourism Foundation, said, "The Sumsum Mountain Dulle-gil in Wonju is an ideal course for enjoying both trail running and trekking, with its proximity to the city and excellent accessibility, as well as its outstanding natural environment. Through this event, we hope that participants will have a vibrant trail experience where they can fully immerse themselves in Gangwon's nature and connect with the local community."
