According to reports, the complaint details that some internet users made abusive and profane remarks while raising allegations on social networking services (SNS) and other platforms that Choo’s sons, who are U.S. citizens, were attempting to evade military service. The police began their investigation on the same day by summoning Choo’s legal representative as the complainant for questioning.
Previously, Choo’s agency, Sport Rain, stated on April 1, "To protect our baseball player and his family, we have retained a law firm and are pursuing criminal complaints for insult and defamation against those who post malicious comments and spread false information."
The agency further emphasized, "We will take strict legal action without any settlement or leniency." This response comes in light of the recent escalation of criticism directed at Choo’s family. According to the agency, the level of abusive language and insults aimed at his wife and children has reached an intolerable point. Sport Rain is currently continuing to monitor malicious posts and comments online.
