Just one day after the United States began its blockade against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone conversation on April 14 (local time) regarding keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
Prime Minister Modi stated on social media, “I received a call from my friend, President Trump,” adding, “We discussed the situation in West Asia and emphasized the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and safe.”

The call between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi took place about a day after the United States initiated its maritime blockade against Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump is believed to have requested Prime Minister Modi’s support for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open. India is significantly affected by a potential blockade of the Strait, as 40 percent of its total crude oil imports pass through the area.
