Palestinian independence activist Nael Barghouti also appealed in his letter, "Following your principled voice, I urge you to take meaningful actions on the international stage in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."

He added, "I hope you will support international efforts to end the suffering and human rights violations endured by Palestinian prisoners," and stated, "We look forward to President Lee's continued role in upholding human values and justice." Barghouti is reportedly the world's longest-serving political prisoner, recognized by the Guinness World Records, having been incarcerated in Israeli prisons for 45 years.

Both letters were delivered to the Blue House. Meanwhile, President Lee recently posted a message on his X (formerly Twitter) account criticizing Israel's war crimes. In response, Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs directly posted a rebuttal via its official X account.

On April 11, President Lee also wrote, "It is disappointing that those who continuously engage in anti-humanitarian and anti-international law actions do not take the time to reflect on the criticisms of people around the world who are suffering. When I am in pain, others are in pain as well. It is only natural to feel sorry if someone suffers because of my needs. For universal human rights and the national interest of the Republic of Korea, I will make even greater efforts to find what more can be done."
