A record-breaking business event, set to present the blueprint for South Korea's energy security, is just one week away. The 23rd International Green Energy Expo, the country’s largest renewable energy exhibition, will be held for three days from April 22 to 24 at EXCO in Daegu.
This year’s event carries special significance as it is the first to be co-hosted by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and EXCO Co., Ltd. following the recent government reorganization. The Korea Renewable Energy Association Federation, the first incorporated association authorized by the Ministry, has joined forces with the existing Korea New & Renewable Energy Association, Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association, and Korea Hydrogen Industry Association. With Daegu City and North Gyeongsang Province serving as strong supporters, the event has been established as a national energy festival that brings together the private sector, government, and research community.
This exhibition is expected to become a technological battleground where global top-tier companies showcase their state-of-the-art innovations. Six of the world's top ten solar cell and module manufacturers by output-including Hanwha Solutions (Hanwha Q Cells), JA Solar, Canadian Solar, Aiko, TW Solar, and Jinko Solar-have confirmed their participation and will unveil next-generation high-efficiency cell and module technologies.
The competition is even fiercer in the inverter sector, with nine of the global top ten companies forming an unprecedented lineup. Leading names such as Huawei, Solis, Growatt, Sofar Solar, Solplanet, Fox ESS, Sigenergy, GoodWe, and Kstar will all be present, demonstrating their global influence. The participation of 26 sponsor companies further proves that this exhibition has evolved beyond a simple event to become a true “global business platform.”
Amid rising expectations for the passage of agrivoltaics-related legislation currently under discussion in the National Assembly, a special “Agrivoltaics Pavilion” will be introduced at this year’s event, drawing significant attention from the industry. Designed to reflect the sector’s aspiration to achieve both food security and energy transition, this pavilion will feature cutting-edge solutions capable of preserving farmland while expanding renewable energy, opening new horizons for profit models.
This exhibition goes beyond a showcase, offering companies bold business opportunities that can deliver tangible profits. A “one-on-one business export consultation” will be held, inviting key overseas buyers from 101 companies, serving as a bridge for K-energy companies to build global networks and open export channels.
For the domestic market, a “Large and Small Business Win-Win Purchase Consultation” will be introduced for the first time this year. Thirty major domestic corporations and public institutions will participate as direct buyers, providing a venue to review and potentially purchase innovative technologies from small and medium-sized enterprises-effectively serving as a killer content that can lead to actual contracts.
A high-profile conference led by the government and public institutions will be held concurrently, elevating the prestige of the exhibition. On April 23, the day after the opening, the “Korea Renewable Energy Policy and Technology Innovation Roadmap Conference,” co-hosted by EXCO Co., Ltd. and the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, will present the future direction for national energy policy and technological innovation. In addition, the Korea Energy Agency will conduct “Job Training for Public Officials in Charge of Renewable Energy Supply Projects,” aimed at strengthening the practical competencies of local government officials nationwide and enhancing policy implementation.
The “New Product and New Technology Showcase,” held on a special stage within the exhibition hall, will add to the excitement. Twelve carefully selected innovative companies, including Grand Sun Technology, will take the stage to demonstrate their unique technologies and make a technology declaration to the global market.
The “2026 International Future Energy Conference,” held concurrently with the exhibition, is expected to serve as a knowledge-sharing platform where global scholars and business leaders explore the latest industry trends. The “2026 PV Market Insight (PVMI)” will run six specialized sessions under the slogan “The Future of Solar Power for Balanced National Development and Energy Welfare.” Notably, on Wednesday, April 22, a presentation on “space-based solar power,” which has rapidly emerged as a core future energy technology, is scheduled to draw industry attention.
This conference will feature distinguished speakers from Europe and the United States, including the Becquerel Institute, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany, and the University of Tennessee, delivering high-level lectures befitting a global conference.
Following this, the “6th H2 Market Insight (H2MI),” to be held on April 24, will be themed “Green Hydrogen-Opening the Future of the Great Energy Transition.” A large number of domestic and international speakers, including the Global Carbon Council headquartered in Qatar and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as other major international organizations, will participate to discuss the future vision of the energy industry in depth.
Chunwoo Jeon, CEO of EXCO, stated, “At a time when global carbon barriers are rising, this exhibition will serve as the optimal guide to help our companies overcome these enormous challenges,” adding, “The International Green Energy Expo will continue to grow as a glocal exhibition that presents a blueprint and alternatives for the future energy transition to companies, organizations, and visitors in the energy industry, while generating tangible business outcomes.”
