Participants will learn about the historical background and significance of Dokdo through lectures by expert instructors, and directly experience the ecology, natural environment, and local culture of Ulleungdo and Dokdo. The field-oriented curriculum also provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of balanced regional development and local autonomy.

This year’s program, in particular, goes beyond a simple field trip. It is expected to strengthen public officials’ sense of responsibility and mission, as well as to help establish a correct understanding of history and a sound sense of national identity.

A city official stated, “Through the Dokdo Academy, we hope to foster employees’ pride and sense of community, as well as to help strengthen their capabilities as public officials. We will continue to expand a variety of hands-on educational programs in the future.”

Since 2008, Sacheon City has continuously encouraged participation in the Dokdo Academy among exemplary public officials, working to raise morale, enhance security awareness, and foster a healthy outlook on national identity.
