S-OIL (CEO Anwar Al Hizaazi) announced on April 14 that it would provide consolation payments of 30 million won each to the families of the late Fire Lieutenant Park Seungwon and the late Firefighter Noh Taeyoung, who died in the line of duty at the site of a factory fire in Wando-gun, South Jeolla Province.
Fire Lieutenant Park Seungwon and Firefighter Noh Taeyoung died in the line of duty on April 12 at approximately 8:30 a.m. while responding to and extinguishing a fire at a factory in Wando-gun.
An S-OIL representative stated, "We pray for the souls of the firefighters who suffered an unfortunate accident while dedicating themselves to protecting the lives and safety of the public," adding, "We express our deepest condolences to their families." The representative also said, "We hope that this consolation payment will in some small way help the families overcome their grief and return to their daily lives."
Since 2006, S-OIL has signed the "Firefighter Hero Supporter" agreement with the National Fire Agency. The company has continued various support activities, including commendations for heroic firefighters, consolation payments for the families of firefighters who died in the line of duty, scholarships for their children, encouragement payments for injured firefighters, and operation of healing camps for firefighter couples.
