Sapyeong Elementary School Successfully Holds 100th Anniversary Celebration

Sapyeong-myeon in Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do, announced on April 14 that the 100th anniversary celebration of Sapyeong Elementary School was held successfully on the school's athletic field on April 11.

The event was attended by over 500 people, including alumni, current students, parents, faculty, and local residents.

The anniversary celebration began with a pre-ceremony program. The atmosphere was further enlivened by a performance from the Sapyeong Pungmul Troupe, stage appearances by students from Sapyeong Elementary and Sapyeong Middle School, and a choir performance by the Yeomi Choir.

During the subsequent opening ceremony, the meaning of the 100th anniversary was commemorated through congratulatory and commemorative speeches, wishing for the school's continued development. In addition, plaques of merit and appreciation were presented to alumni and local figures who contributed to the school's growth, expressing gratitude for their dedication. In particular, the school song sung by the 100-member choir left a deep impression and a sense of pride among attendees.

The day's events also included a monument unveiling ceremony to mark the school's centennial. This was followed by the opening ceremony of the 'Sapyeong Elementary School History Hall', which showcases the school's history at a glance. The museum drew attention from visitors by exhibiting a variety of records, including the school's timeline and photographic materials.

The congratulatory performances featured a diverse blend of traditional and modern acts. Tightrope walking and percussion performances added excitement to the scene, while singer Kim Yong-im and a Pumba performance brought the event to a grand finale amid enthusiastic applause.

An official from the Sapyeong Elementary School 100th Anniversary Project Committee stated, "This celebration was an opportunity to reflect on the 100-year history and values of Sapyeong Elementary School and to reaffirm our commitment to the future together with the local community."
