Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province, announced that it will operate the '2026 Romantic Busking·Youth Busking' starting in May, in order to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment in daily life and to create a sophisticated cultural city.
This year's busking program has been organized with a more diverse range of events than last year, allowing citizens to enjoy culture and the arts more closely.
First, 'Romantic Busking' will be held every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 p.m. at Ocean Park and the Romantic Pocha district, running from May 1 to October 31.
The city will also present a special Romantic Busking performance at the Yeosu World Expo Center in conjunction with the 'UN Climate Week' event, which begins on April 20. In addition, during the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, a new 'Busking on the Island' program will be introduced to help create an exciting atmosphere for the expo.
'Youth Busking' will take place every Saturday from 7:30 p.m. at Yeomun Culture Street, Ungcheon Shopping District, and Soho-dongdong Bridge, from May 2 to October 31. In particular, in line with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's policy to expand 'Culture Day,' additional performances will be scheduled on the first and third Wednesdays of every month to improve accessibility for citizens.
Jeong Hyeongu, acting mayor of Yeosu, said, "This year's busking program focuses on expanding the stage to island areas, so that citizens can enjoy culture and the arts even closer to their daily lives," adding, "We hope that Yeosu's street performances will become a driving force to revitalize the local community."
Meanwhile, the city is recruiting street artists to participate in the busking program from April 13 to April 30. Further information, including how to apply, can be found in the notices section of the city's official website.
