Mirae Asset Global Investments announced that it will list the "TIGER U.S. Space Tech" Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF), which focuses on core companies in the U.S. space industry, on April 14, 2026.
The TIGER U.S. Space Tech ETF uses the "Akros U.S. Space Tech Index" as its benchmark and invests intensively in ten key U.S.-listed companies related to the space industry. The portfolio is highly concentrated, with a focus on a small number of major companies such as Rocket Lab, Intuitive Machines, AST SpaceMobile, and Redwire holding the largest weights.
Recently, the space industry has been rapidly shifting from the government-led "Old Space" to the private sector-centered "New Space." In the past, traditional defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin and Boeing executed government projects, but now private companies, led by SpaceX, are driving technological innovations such as reusable launch vehicles and satellite network construction, bringing about significant changes in the industry structure.
This ETF is designed to reflect the characteristics of the industry by excluding traditional defense-focused companies and investing solely in pure private space companies. The top four holdings-Rocket Lab, Intuitive Machines, AST SpaceMobile, and Redwire-account for about 70% of the portfolio. In addition, satellite data and communication companies such as Planet Labs, Globalstar, and EchoStar are included as complementary investments.
In particular, the ETF has adopted an inclusion rule to reflect a potential SpaceX IPO event. If SpaceX goes public in the U.S. market, the underlying index will include SpaceX based on the closing price two business days after its listing, and the ETF is designed to incorporate SpaceX into the portfolio within three business days after the listing. This structure enables the ETF to quickly reflect the impact of key company listings.
Namho Kim, Head of Global ETF Management Division at Mirae Asset Global Investments, stated, "This product is a strategic tool that allows investment in the core growth areas of the New Space era. It is characterized by focused investment in companies selected based on changes in industry structure and technological competitiveness." He added, "Through this, we expect it will serve as an efficient investment solution that effectively captures the long-term growth potential of the space industry."
