The Gyeonggi Women and Family Foundation will hold the 4th Gyeonggi Women Family Future Forum on April 17 in the foundation's conference room, under the theme "Artificial Intelligence and Gender-Based Violence·Health."
This forum has been organized to seek policy responses as the development of new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), brings about structural changes across society-including the labor market, social policy, care systems, gender-based violence, and healthcare.
During the forum, under the theme of "Gender-Based Violence·Health," participants will discuss digital technology-based violence occurring within AI, possible response measures, and gender issues and implications that may arise from the use of AI in the healthcare sector.
Kim Aera, Research Fellow at the Korean Women's Development Institute, will give a presentation on "Gender-Based Violence Mediated by AI Systems and Policy Response Tasks," and Kim Hyejin, Senior Researcher at the Center for Gendered Innovations in Science and Technology Research, will present on "AI-Based Digital Health and Health Equity."
For the designated discussion, Professor Jung Yeonbo of the School of Social Convergence at Sungkonghoe University and Professor Yoo Hwajung of the Department of Sociology at Dongguk University will discuss policy implications and future tasks.
Kim Hyesoon, CEO of the Gyeonggi Women and Family Foundation, stated, "While there are concerns that advances in AI technology could further exacerbate existing gender-based violence, there is also a growing need for technology design that incorporates health equity and a gender perspective in the healthcare sector." She added, "Within the structural changes brought about by new technological developments, we must seek policy directions for gender equality in Gyeonggi Province that encompass both responses to gender-based violence and the promotion of health equity."
