Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority announced on April 14 that it will fully resume operations of the "Harbor Pilot Boat" program starting April 15. This program allows the public to vividly observe the core logistics areas of Pyeongtaek Port from the sea, locations that are typically strictly off-limits to ordinary visitors.
The Harbor Pilot Boat is a maritime tour program where participants can explore every corner of the vast port by boat while listening to expert commentary. It offers a unique experience by allowing visitors to view automobile import/export terminals, massive container terminals, and large-scale logistics complexes from the water-areas normally inaccessible to civilians due to security and safety reasons.
After a winter break from December to March for operational preparations, the service will resume in April. Ahead of the reopening this year, the authority conducted thorough inspections of the vessel, checked the safety of the surrounding navigation routes, and completed maintenance of passenger amenities to ensure a comfortable and safe viewing environment.
In particular, the program goes beyond simple sightseeing by operating as an educational content tour with professional commentary, enabling participants to easily understand the role of the port and the national logistics system while observing the movement of large-scale import and export logistics in real-time.
Any resident wishing to board the boat and tour Pyeongtaek Port must use the advance reservation system. The program operates twice daily, from Tuesday to Saturday (at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.), and reservations must be made at least five days prior to boarding. Detailed information about the schedule and application process can be found on the official website of Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority.
Kim Geumgyu, Acting President of Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, stated, "The Harbor Pilot Boat program is a leading opportunity to experience Pyeongtaek Port-the nation's core logistics outpost-up close. We will continue to provide a valuable experience for all visitors through rigorous safety management and well-organized commentary, and strive to widely promote the true value and role of Pyeongtaek Port."
