The new factory being built by CJ Medtech Co. will cover a land area of 11,321 square meters, with a total floor area of 2,299.39 square meters. Once the new plant is completed, annual production capacity is expected to increase by approximately four times compared to current levels. This expansion goes beyond a simple increase in equipment, as it signifies that Uijeongbu City has secured a core production hub in the bio and medical device sectors, which the city has identified as future growth engines.
CJ Medtech Co. is a representative local small giant company that moved into the Yonghyeon Industrial Complex at the initial stage of its development in 2000 and has continued to grow through ongoing technological development and quality innovation in the field of orthopedic medical devices.
This investment is the result of Uijeongbu City's proactive administrative support. The city has made multifaceted efforts to create a business-friendly environment in the Yonghyeon Industrial Complex, including lifting building height restrictions, easing industry regulations, and improving transportation and environmental infrastructure.
In particular, in March of last year, the city signed a "business agreement for fostering advanced industries" with CJ Bio Co., the parent company of CJ Medtech Co., and has since worked closely together to expand production facilities within the industrial complex and prioritize the hiring of local talent. The groundbreaking ceremony is seen as a practical implementation of this agreement and a successful case in which the city's advancement policy has led to increased corporate investment.
Mayor Kim Dongkeun stated, "Today's groundbreaking for the new factory is a tangible achievement of the Yonghyeon Industrial Complex advancement policy that Uijeongbu City has steadily pursued. We will continue to provide administrative support so that companies can invest with confidence, and we will strive to make Uijeongbu a central industrial hub in the northeastern region of Gyeonggi Province."
Building on this case, Uijeongbu City plans to attract more investment from companies in advanced industry sectors and strengthen its status as a hub city for balanced regional development and the creation of future-oriented jobs.
