"Annual 1.2 Million Won for Providing Farmland to Youth"... Haenam County's Bold Support

Applications Open for the "Youth Farmers Farmland Acquisition Support Project"

Benefit of Subsidies for Up to Three Years

Haenam County in South Jeolla Province announced on April 13 that it is accepting applications for the "Youth Farmers Farmland Acquisition Support Project" until the 29th, aiming to help young farmers settle stably in farming and secure farmland.

This project is a pioneering initiative in which, if a young farmer between the ages of 18 and 45 secures farmland through a lease or purchase agreement, the owner providing the farmland receives an incentive payment. The project specifically targets those experiencing difficulties in acquiring farmland.

The support amount is set at 240 won per square meter. Based on a maximum of 5,000 square meters (0.5 hectares), beneficiaries can receive up to 1.2 million won per year for a maximum of three years. This structure benefits both young farmers who need a farming base and full-time or retired farmers who wish to manage their farmland more efficiently.

Eligible recipients include: ▲ those who sell farmland to young farmers registered (or soon to be registered) as agricultural business entities, and ▲ those who sign a farmland lease agreement with young farmers through the Korea Rural Community Corporation (Farmland Bank). However, to prevent unfair support, farmland transactions (sales or leases) between family members such as spouses, oneself or one's spouse's lineal ascendants or descendants, and siblings are strictly excluded from eligibility.

Farmland owners wishing to apply for the project must visit the Agricultural Human Resources Development Team at the Haenam County Agricultural Technology Center in person to apply. For more details, applicants can refer to the notices on the Haenam County Agricultural Technology Center website or contact the Agricultural Human Resources Development Team directly for guidance.

An official from the county said, "This will provide tangible help to young people struggling to secure farmland," and added, "We expect that, in addition to promoting the efficient use of idle farmland, intergenerational cooperation will inject new vitality into rural communities."
