On April 13, Han Donghoon, former leader of the People Power Party, effectively formalized his intention to run in the by-election for Buk-gu Gap in Busan, stating, "Not long ago, I found a home in Mandeok, Buk-gu, Busan."
On the same day, Han posted on his Facebook account, "I will dedicate my life to serving the citizens of Busan."
Previously, he had repeatedly visited Buk-gu, Busan, signaling his intention to run in the by-election. After visiting Gupo Market in Busan on the 7th of last month, he also met with Seo Byungsoo, the People Power Party's Buk-gu Gap district committee chair, on the 8th of this month to gauge local public sentiment and communicate with residents.

원본보기 아이콘On the 11th, at Paldalmun Market in Suwon, when asked by reporters about his candidacy for Buk-gu Gap in Busan, Han said, "I believe politicians should be predictable and clear in their intentions."
He added, "I have deep affection for Busan and hold great ambitions for the development of Busan and its citizens."
When asked if he would consider forming an alliance with the People Power Party candidate should he run as an independent in this by-election, Han responded, "I believe this is ultimately a decision for the citizens to make." He continued, "On the day I was unfairly expelled from the People Power Party, I said, 'I will definitely return.' I believe the answer lies in that statement."
