Support for Rural Stay, Training, and Activity Expenses to Encourage Stable Settlement

Geochang County in Gyeongsangnam-do is recruiting participants for the '2026 Returning to Farming, Living in the Countryside' program, targeting urban residents who wish to return to farming. Applications are open until April 20.

This initiative has been organized to allow urban residents considering a move to rural areas to experience actual rural life and assess the possibility of a stable settlement in advance. The program is open to urban residents living outside the region, and a total of three households or three individuals will be selected.

Selected participants will stay at Gomnaemi Rural Experience Village in Ungyang-myeon, where they will experience rural life for about three months. The program runs from May 1 to July 24.

Participants will learn fruit cultivation techniques for Geochang’s representative crops such as apples, strawberries, and Shine Muscat grapes. They will also engage in exchanges with local residents and take part in various activities necessary to prepare for returning to farming, including exploring farmland and housing information.

Accommodation and program experience fees are fully covered, and a monthly activity allowance of 100,000 won will also be provided. Graduates of the program will receive preferential benefits, such as additional points when applying for Geochang County's 'House for Returning Farmers' in the future.

Kim Gyutae, Head of Geochang County Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Experiencing daily life in the countryside through actual residency is the starting point for a successful return to farming," adding, "We hope more urban residents will design a new life in Geochang."

Applications can be submitted through the integrated portal for returning to farming and rural migration, 'Greendaero.' For more details, please contact the Gomnaemi Village office.
