Dong-A University Medical School Professor Kijae Park Receives Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation for Advancing Cancer Treatment

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on April 13 that Professor Kijae Park from the Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine has received a Commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare.

Professor Park was honored with the award in recognition of his contributions to promoting public health and improving the quality of life for cancer patients at the 19th Cancer Prevention Day ceremony, which was held last month in the Grand Ballroom of The Plaza Hotel Seoul.

He has devoted himself to the treatment of patients with advanced cancer, consistently delivering outstanding clinical results. In particular, he has played a key role in advancing treatment standards by actively introducing minimally invasive surgery using laparoscopy, thereby reducing the recovery burden on patients.

He also plays a central role in the field of regional cancer treatment through complex cancer surgeries and ongoing outpatient care.

This year, Professor Park was inaugurated as president of the Busan Surgical Society, contributing to the development of the regional surgical care system. His expertise is widely recognized, as demonstrated by his service as a specialist member of numerous academic societies.

Professor Kijae Park stated, "It is never easy to face patients at the clinic, but I am grateful to receive such a meaningful award. I will continue striving to become a physician who empathizes more deeply with the pain of my patients."
