Offering a Unique Cultural Experience Through Interactive Performances for Tourists

Sancheong County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 13th that it has launched the 'Namsa Yedamchon Walking Theater,' offering visitors a unique way to experience the traditions and history of Namsa Yedamchon.

The Namsa Yedamchon Walking Theater is an interactive street performance that transforms Namsa Yedamchon-designated as Korea's most beautiful village No. 1-into a stage, reinterpreting the region's history and stories in the form of a play.

Tourists can walk through various parts of the village alongside actors, directly participating in the performance and naturally encountering the cultural heritage embedded in each space.

The performance starts at Gyeonghwadang, then passes by the Couple Chinese Hackberry Trees, Yeongmojae, and Baegui Jonggun-gil, before returning to the entrance of Namsa Yedamchon. Set against a backdrop of traditional hanok houses and stone walls, the performance is expected to provide visitors with special memories and an immersive cultural experience.

This year, the Walking Theater began with its first performance on April 5 and will be held 14 times in total-seven times in the first half of the year and seven times in the second half. Sancheong County plans to operate the program according to seasonal tourism demand, allowing more visitors to enjoy the experience.

An official from Sancheong County stated, "The Walking Theater was designed as a program to convey the traditions and history of Namsa Yedamchon in a more accessible and engaging way," adding, "We will continue to focus on promotion and strengthening content so that more tourists can visit in the future."
