Expansion of Recycled Material Use in Volume-Based Waste Bags

Crude Oil Stockpiles Maintain 60% of Average Yearly Levels

The ruling party and the government explained that, regarding the recent shortage of volume-based waste bags, there are some bottlenecks in certain regions, but "there are no issues with overall supply." They are discussing with financial authorities measures to lower insurance premiums due to the vehicle operation restrictions.

On April 13, the Democratic Party's Special Committee for Economic Response to the Middle East War reviewed with relevant ministries the support measures for energy supply disruptions and the status of financial and foreign exchange market countermeasures at the National Assembly. Assemblyman Ahn Dogeol told reporters after the committee meeting, "There have been some cases of hoarding of volume-based waste bags, but when looking at total supply, most local governments have stockpiles sufficient for three to five months." He added, "The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment is carrying out adjustment measures to address surpluses and shortages, and the price of naphtha has increased. It is important to utilize recycled materials to replace existing raw materials, so we are considering ways to increase the proportion of recycled materials from 10% to 30% by providing budget support for production facilities that can use recycled materials."

In connection with the implementation of the vehicle restriction system for public sector vehicles on even and odd days, as well as the participation of the private sector, efforts are also underway to reduce insurance premiums. Assemblyman Ahn said, "The Financial Services Commission is closely coordinating with insurance authorities to lower insurance premiums, considering that vehicle operation and mileage are decreasing," and added, "The announcement will be made by next week at the latest."

Meanwhile, Assemblyman Ahn explained, "The volume of crude oil secured in April and May is maintaining at about 60% of the average for previous years. Currently, the four domestic refiners have secured 30 million barrels through stockpile swaps, and private refiners are showing results in voluntarily securing alternative volumes."
