Lotte Wellfood is expanding its category lineup, led by its flagship ice cream brand, 'Pig Bar.' The company’s strategy is to secure demand during the peak summer season by diversifying its product portfolio using popular offerings.


On April 13, Lotte Wellfood announced the launch of a new monaka ice cream product called 'Pig Bar Bread.' This product reimagines the core elements of the original Pig Bar-cookie crumbs, chocolate coating, strawberry syrup, and ice cream-in a monaka format.

Pig Bar Bread faithfully recreates the taste and texture of the Pig Bar. The characteristic four-layer structure-cookie crumbs, chocolate coating, ice cream, and strawberry syrup-has been stacked layer by layer. The exterior features a monaka shaped like a pig, offering both convenience and a unique design element. The company also addressed a common drawback of the original product, namely the issue of cookie crumbs falling off.


Lotte Wellfood is also engaging in seasonal and experiential marketing activities using the Pig Bar. Earlier this month, it released a limited-edition 'Flower Pig Bar' for the spring flower season, and in October of last year, it operated a 'Pig Bar General Store' pop-up in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.


The company is also ramping up efforts to target overseas markets. At its new factory in Pune, India, Lotte Wellfood released the Pig Bar under the localized name 'Krunch Bar.' Despite being positioned as a premium product, sales surpassed 1 million units within just three months of launch.


A Lotte Wellfood representative stated, "Pig Bar Bread is a product that maximizes the enjoyment of eating by preserving the taste of Pig Bar, which has been loved for over 40 years, while adding the unique convenience of monaka. We will continue to expand our categories by leveraging the assets of our steady-seller brands to provide consumers with brand experiences that are both familiar and fun."
