Jinju City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 13th that it had strongly proposed the relocation of public institutions in the second phase to existing innovative cities at the '2026 National Innovative Cities Council Working-Level Meeting' held in Eumseong County, North Chungcheong Province.


The meeting was attended by department heads and working-level staff from the 11 member cities of the National Innovative Cities, with major agenda items including: sharing development strategies and best practices for innovative cities; seeking joint government response measures regarding the second phase of public institution relocations; and preliminary consultations on holding regular meetings.

Jinju City, in particular, shared that the 'Jinju Innovative City, South Gyeongsang Province' has grown by linking relocated public institutions with local industries, emphasizing that relocating to existing innovative cities with established residential environments and industrial infrastructure is essential to maximize policy effectiveness.


An official from Jinju City stated, "Jinju Innovative City, South Gyeongsang Province, will further expand its role as a hub for balanced regional growth," adding, "Through the National Innovative Cities Council, we will prepare proposals to the government and continue to advocate for the principled implementation of the second phase of public institution relocations."


Meanwhile, the National Innovative Cities Council was established in 2006 to ensure the successful development of innovative cities, and is comprised of 11 member cities nationwide, including Jinju Innovative City in South Gyeongsang Province.
