President Lee: "If You Profit from Speculation with Others' Money, Hardworking People Lose Motivation"

President Lee Jae-myung pointed out on the 12th, "When people make money by speculating on real estate with other people's money, those who work hard lose motivation."

On this day, President Lee stated on his X account (formerly Twitter), "Strengthening productive finance is an unavoidable path." He added, "It is entirely possible-and indeed necessary-to achieve zero real estate speculation through the normalization of taxation, finance, and regulations."

Together with his post, President Lee shared a media report stating that the government is considering loan regulations that would prohibit new jeonse loan guarantees for non-resident single-home owners and would not permit extensions on existing loans.

According to the report, financial authorities are reviewing measures to regulate non-resident single-home owners following similar restrictions on multiple-home owners. There has been criticism that non-resident single-home owners, who do not reside in their own property, have been engaging in de facto gap investment by utilizing jeonse loans.
