On April 11, the police questioned a complainant regarding allegations that Jung Wono, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate for Mayor of Seoul, had "arbitrarily manipulated poll results."
The Seongdong Police Station in Seoul summoned and questioned a representative of Assemblyman Kim Jaeseop of the People Power Party, who had filed a complaint against Jung for violating the Public Official Election Act earlier that morning. This came just one day after the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency assigned the case to the Seongdong Police Station.
Jung's camp compiled the results of suitability polls for Seoul mayoral candidates (conducted by three different agencies) targeting Democratic Party supporters, and produced campaign materials based on these combined results. In response, Assemblyman Kim submitted a complaint to the police on April 7, arguing that "Jung selectively pieced together only the poll results favorable to himself."
On the same day, Jung stated on CBS Radio, "We proceeded because we determined it was legal," and added, "It was not a distortion or a falsehood, but rather a recalculation into percentages reflecting the Democratic Party's primary rules, after excluding non-responses."
