The Korea Transportation Safety Authority announced on April 10 that it has signed a business agreement with Gyeonggi Province to promote a culture of traffic safety among city bus operators and to enhance public transportation services through a public management system safety operation support project.
Under this agreement, both parties will share individual safety assessments of transportation workers and provide safety operation ratings based on operational record data. They have decided to link data by utilizing Gyeonggi Province’s integrated city bus safety operation management system and the Authority’s operational record analysis system.

Using on-board recorders, the system collects data such as vehicle speed and location information and provides data on 11 types of risky driving behaviors, including speeding and sudden lane changes.
By analyzing risky behaviors and providing the results to Gyeonggi Province, the Authority expects to contribute to the spread of a safety culture for city buses. Jeong Yongshik, president of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, stated, "As the only comprehensive and specialized traffic safety institution in Korea with extensive big data in the mobility sector and expertise in traffic safety management, we will continue to collaborate with Gyeonggi Province to develop new traffic safety projects."
