On April 10, Hongseong County in South Chungcheong Province announced plans to build an 18-hole golf course and accommodation facilities in the Namdang-ri area of Seobu-myeon.
According to the county, this large-scale project will utilize approximately 1.12 million square meters of land, with 250 billion won in private capital to construct a mid-to-large-sized 18-hole golf course and 13 accommodation buildings.
A Industries, a local company and project developer, plans to complete the golf course and related facilities by 2029, with an additional 9 holes to be constructed in the future.
Hongseong County is currently accelerating the development of Namdang Port, the Hongseong Sky Tower, and the maintenance of the West Coast tourism road to boost marine tourism in the western region.
The county noted that while the number of tourists continues to increase, a lack of accommodation and experiential facilities has limited most visits to day trips, which has been highlighted as a key challenge.
Seo Youngjun, an official at Hongseong County, stated, "This urban planning amendment is the final stage of administrative procedures for the project, and after subsequent steps such as the environmental impact assessment and development activities, only the official groundbreaking remains."
The executive director of A Industries explained, "In order for Hongseong County's tourism industry to advance, accommodation facilities and related infrastructure are now essential. We aim to create a premier golf course on the West Coast and develop it into a stay-type tourist destination."
