Gyeonggi Office of Education to Launch "On-Site Science-Based Health Education" at Over 920 Schools

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will conduct “on-site science-based health education” at approximately 920 schools in the province starting from April 9.

This program moves away from the traditional lecture- and exhibition-centered approach, and instead consists of hands-on, student-participatory activities.

The main content focuses on physical measurement activities, including spinal curvature and forward head posture screening, eye health examinations, AI-based health checks, and an AI baby care experience. The program is designed so that students can directly check their own health status and connect this to improving their lifestyle habits.

Additionally, to prevent drug and substance abuse, the program will also include participatory content such as plays and musicals to increase students’ interest and engagement.

In particular, medical associations such as the Gyeonggi Medical Association, Gyeonggi Dental Association, Gyeonggi Korean Medicine Association, and Gyeonggi Pharmaceutical Association will participate. Experts will visit schools directly, and the answers to on-site questions from school health teachers will be compiled into a database, which will later be used for AI-based counseling and a school medical data system.

An official from the provincial office of education stated, “Through this on-site health and hygiene education, we will work to reduce gaps in health education according to the conditions of each region and school, and support more students in experiencing science-based health education.”
