On April 7, POSCO Group announced that it will accelerate its group-wide Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) by investing 7 billion won in Brils, a robotics automation solutions company.

This investment was made through a total capital injection of 7 billion won, comprising 5 billion won from the POSCO Holdings Strategic Fund and 2 billion won from the POSCO Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) Fund. POSCO Group plans to combine Brils' robotics design and control expertise with its own accumulated experience and technological know-how in manufacturing sites through this investment.

POSCO Group aims not only to manufacture robots, but also to jointly develop automated operating systems to expedite the construction of "intelligent factories." An intelligent factory is a next-generation facility that goes beyond a smart factory, realizing an intelligent and autonomous manufacturing process based on collaboration between humans, AI, and robots.

POSCO Group intends to first deploy customized robots in manual processes that are physically demanding or carry a high risk of accidents, with the dual goals of enhancing safety and boosting productivity on the manufacturing floor.

To date, POSCO Group has invested a total of 19 billion won in promising robotics companies through venture funds and POSCO Technology Investment: the quadruped robot company Aidin Robotics, the robotic hand specialist Tesollo, the collaborative robotics firm Neuromeka, and the industrial humanoid robotics company Persona AI.

A POSCO Group official stated, "We plan to further expand the adoption of robot- and AI-based autonomous processes to proliferate intelligent factories in manufacturing sites and further accelerate AX across the group."

Meanwhile, Brils, established in 2015, is a leading domestic system integration (SI) company specializing in automation solutions, holding more than 110 related patents. The company has demonstrated its technological prowess by applying automation solutions at major corporate production sites, including Hyundai Motor Company and SK ecoplant. Building on this growth potential, Brils is planning to go public on KOSDAQ within this year.
