Governor Park Wansu: "May the Joy of Jesus' Resurrection Spread Throughout the Land"

"I hope the joy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ will spread widely throughout this land."

Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do, made this statement on April 5 at the 2026 Easter Joint Worship Service held at the Namgang Outdoor Stage in Jinju City.

Governor Park said, "Easter is a celebration of the victory of life, and a meaningful season that conveys a message of hope and salvation beyond despair," adding, "Just as resurrection signifies passing through darkness and returning to the light, I hope that new hope and joy will blossom in our daily lives."

He continued, "Every time freedom and democracy faced a crisis in Korea's history, the love and dedication shown by Christianity have been a great strength supporting our society," and added, "I express my deep gratitude to the Christian community and believers who have devoted themselves to our nation and community."

He also said, "I sincerely pray that peaceful days will continue, allowing us to find happiness even in small moments," and added, "I hope that God's blessings will fill the homes of everyone here today, and that this will be a blessed year in which your hopes are fulfilled."

This year's Easter Joint Worship Service, hosted by the Christian Federation of Jinju City, was held under the theme "Walking with the Lord of Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)."

More than 3,000 people attended the event, including Governor Park Wansu; Cho Kyuil, Mayor of Jinju; Park Daecheol, National Assembly member; Yoo Gyehyeon, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Assembly; other key dignitaries; and congregants from about 220 churches in the Jinju area, as well as local citizens. They shared the joy of Jesus' resurrection and prayed for the local community and society.

The Christian Federation of Jinju City, established in 2011, currently has about 220 churches in the Jinju region as its members.

Through activities such as the Easter Joint Worship Service, the Federation is leading efforts to promote unity among local churches and fulfill its social responsibilities.

Gyeongsangnam-do plans to use this Easter Joint Worship Service as an opportunity to reflect the values of unity and community restoration in provincial governance and to further strengthen communication and cooperation so that hope can continue to spread in the daily lives of residents.
