The Department of Industrial Design at the College of Fine Arts, Keimyung University, participated in the “2026 Daegu International Optics Fair (DIOPS),” held at Daegu EXCO from April 1 to 3, 2026, showcasing next-generation eyewear designs that incorporate generative AI technology.
At this exhibition, Keimyung University presented 25 works created by students and alumni from the Department of Industrial Design.

In particular, the works were praised for their experimental approaches that break the conventional mold of eyewear design and for their functional innovations.
Some of the entries had already been recognized for their design competitiveness externally.
Among them, “CLIP” by Park Ji-hyuk (26), which won the Korea Institute of Design Promotion President’s Award at the “2025 K-Eyewear Design Award,” drew significant attention from visitors for integrating the everyday form of a paper clip into the eyewear frame as a design motif.
Park Ji-hyuk commented, “It is very meaningful to present my award-winning work, which I invested much effort into, to the public on such an international exhibition stage. Through the process of turning ideas into tangible results, I was able to strengthen my practical capabilities.”
Keimyung University demonstrated the close linkage between the local strategic industry of optometry and university education through this exhibition.
Kim Yunhee, Dean of the College of Fine Arts, stated, “It is meaningful for our students to present eyewear design works-one of the core fields of the regional industry-on an international stage. I hope this exhibition will not only foster student growth, but also serve as an opportunity to expand job creation and start-up opportunities linked to the eyewear industry.”
Seok Jaehyuk, Head of the Department of Industrial Design, said, “Participating in this exhibition provided students with hands-on, work-oriented design experience. Through the use of generative AI for form realization and the development of functionally innovative ideas centered on user experience, we confirmed new possibilities for the eyewear industry.”
Meanwhile, the Daegu International Optics Fair (DIOPS) is a global business platform where domestic and international optometry companies and designers gather.
The Department of Industrial Design at Keimyung University received positive reviews for not only exhibiting works, but also presenting both the future direction of eyewear industry design and an innovative educational model for universities through its participation this year.
