RaonSecure has established itself as a key player in the Japanese digital authentication market, securing more than 10 million users.
AI security and authentication platform company RaonSecure (co-CEOs Soonhyung Lee and Jeonga Lee) announced on April 6 that its AI-based biometric authentication platform, "TouchEn OnePass," surpassed 10 million monthly active users (MAU) in Japan last month.
TouchEn OnePass is a service that enables simple yet secure identity authentication using biometric data such as fingerprints, facial recognition, and vein patterns, without the need for passwords or separate certificates. As the subscription-based model directly links user growth to business performance, the expansion of MAU is leading to stable recurring revenue.
Technically, RaonSecure was the first in the world to receive standard certification from the global biometric authentication consortium FIDO Alliance. More recently, it has also built an active security system that instantly detects and blocks abnormal behavior based on AI technology.
Since the initial launch of TouchEn OnePass in Japan in July 2020, RaonSecure has consistently strengthened its presence in the local market. In particular, last year the company signed a supply contract worth approximately 3.5 billion won with Japan's largest internet bank, Sumishin SBI Net Bank, and its subsidiary NeoBank Technologies, further expanding its market position.
Alongside this, adoption has been rapidly increasing across various sectors including finance, education, and research institutions, driving a sharp rise in user numbers. The company reached 5 million MAU in just under four years after launch, and it took less than two years to add another 5 million users. The growth rate has more than doubled after the initial market entry, with the number of users currently increasing by about 200,000 per month on average.
This demonstrates that TouchEn OnePass has moved beyond the initial introduction phase and entered a stage of full-scale expansion in the Japanese market. The proactive commercialization of FIDO-based authentication, amid growing demand for passwordless authentication and strengthened security regulations in Japan, has been cited as a key factor in this success.
Surpassing 10 million MAU is significant not only as an expansion of overseas subscribers, but also as evidence of the platform’s potential to expand its business across the broader Japanese digital trust market. Operational experience accumulated in finance, education, and research is expected to serve as a foundation for further market expansion.
RaonSecure plans to expand its digital trust infrastructure business by leveraging its technological capabilities and operational expertise accumulated through OnePass, in response to the growing importance of identity verification and access control amid the rise of agentic AI. The company is also focused on advancing authentication systems that encompass both users and AI.
Soonhyung Lee, CEO of RaonSecure, said, "TouchEn OnePass surpassing 10 million MAU demonstrates that our technological prowess and locally tailored service strategies are delivering results in large-scale real-world environments. As the spread of agentic AI further highlights the importance of digital authentication, we aim to become a global digital trust infrastructure company that bridges both people and AI."
Meanwhile, RaonSecure participates on the board of directors of the FIDO Alliance, alongside Google, Microsoft, Samsung Electronics, Amazon, and Apple, exercising voting rights. The company is strengthening its position not only through overseas market achievements but also in international standardization discussions for digital authentication.
