The ministry stated, "We expect that the public trust actor Lee Junhyuk has built through various dramas and movies, as well as the experience announcer Park Sunyoung has gained as a Ministry of Data and Statistics census model, will help raise awareness and participation in the Economic Census."
This selection of promotional models is part of a campaign to ensure the successful execution of the Economic Census scheduled for June this year, even amidst large-scale events such as the local elections and the North and Central America World Cup, as well as rapidly changing domestic and international circumstances.
Actor Lee Junhyuk and announcer Park Sunyoung expressed, "We feel a great sense of responsibility in being appointed as promotional models for the nationally significant Economic Census, and we will do our best to help widely promote the census to the public."
They also pledged, "Going forward, we will sincerely and actively take part in promotional activities to ensure that the voices from business sites are accurately reflected in the statistics."
The Economic Census is a fundamental national statistical survey conducted every five years by the Ministry of Data and Statistics in cooperation with local governments, targeting all businesses nationwide. This year marks the fourth census since 2011. The survey aims to identify the industrial and regional economic structure by collecting data on the size, employment, production, and costs of domestic businesses by industry.
In particular, this census will collect data on the structure of new industries that have changed due to the adoption of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. An online survey will be conducted first, from June 1 to June 30, via PC and mobile, followed by in-person surveys by interviewers from June 12 to July 22.
Ahn Hyungjun, head of the Ministry of Data and Statistics, said, "As promotional models, the active engagement of these two individuals is expected to help increase understanding of the Economic Census and greatly encourage business participation in the survey."
He added, "Since accurate responses are crucial for compiling high-quality statistics that serve as the basis for evidence-based economic policymaking, we ask for the public's active participation and cooperation in the 2025 Economic Census."
