The Korea Cartoonists Association announced on March 31 that it will hold an "Emergency Discussion on Countermeasures Against Illegal Webtoon Sharing" at 9:30 a.m. on April 2 in Seminar Room 3 at the National Assembly Members' Office Building.

This discussion forum is co-hosted by Assemblyman Kim Seungsoo of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, the Korea Cartoonists Association, and Gambling-Free School. The event will examine the damage to the industry caused by illegal webtoon distribution and the problem of youth gambling connections, as well as seek effective countermeasures.

Kwon Hyukjoo, President of the Korea Cartoonists Association, will address the impact of illegal distribution on creators and the industrial ecosystem, emphasizing the need to block illegal profit structures and swiftly establish a blocking system. Jo Ho-yeon, Principal of Gambling-Free School, will present practical measures to eradicate illegal webtoons.

Participants in the subsequent discussion will include the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Naver Webtoon, the Korea Copyright Protection Agency, and the artist Mujuk Pink.

The Korea Cartoonists Association stated, "We hope this will serve as an opportunity to concretize policy discussions for solving the problem of illegal webtoon distribution and protecting the rights and interests of creators."
