Hadong County in South Gyeongsang Province is launching a special national heritage journey in April, the most dazzling season of the year, offering children a sense of adventure and families unforgettable memories.
The signature program of <2026 Rediscovery of Millennium Hadong>, titled “The Return of Seongdol,” hosted and organized by Byulbyul Solution with support from the county and the National Heritage Administration, sold out just a few days after ticket sales opened, proving its explosive popularity.
Now in its seventh year, this program has delivered moving experiences to participants through solid storytelling and serves as an excellent catalyst, injecting new vitality into the local economy.
“The Return of Seongdol” is an immersive storytelling program based on artifacts excavated from Hadong Eupseong Fortress and the history of local potters. It combines a mission to rescue a potter who has time-slipped from the Joseon Dynasty with realistic performances by professional actors, leading children into the world of archaeological exploration.
Participants, who become “expedition members” for two days and one night, engage in exciting outdoor missions throughout Hadong, experiencing hands-on, living history education.
In addition, local residents carefully prepare a “country meal” using seasonal ingredients from Hadong, and provide “snack packs” made with regional agricultural products. Participants can fully enjoy the warm and friendly rural atmosphere, using the locally operated “Hotel Maege” as their base camp.
In 2023, the program received the “Cultural Heritage Administration Award,” officially recognizing its educational value and entertainment. Through close collaboration with local organizations such as Hadong Residents Fair Travel Nolluwa, Hadongyo, and the Hadong Ecological Interpretation Society, the program maximized its completeness as an exemplary case of national heritage utilization.
A county official stated, “The Return of Seongdol is a high-quality content that goes beyond simple tourism, contemporarily reinterpreting the value of cultural heritage. We hope that April, filled with the fragrance of flowers, will be a precious time for families to experience the charms of Hadong with all their senses.”
Meanwhile, the main event “The Return of Seongdol” in 2026 will be held six times from April 10 to April 26 (Friday-Saturday/Saturday-Sunday), and more information can be found through Byulbyul Solution.
