On March 30, fourteen former chairpersons of Changwon City Council announced their endorsement of Kang Ki-yoon, a preliminary candidate for the mayoral election of Changwon.
The former chairpersons held a press conference in front of the main gate of Changwon City Hall that day, stating, "The engine of Changwon, once the heart of Korea's economy, is cooling down, and the livelihoods of its citizens are losing vitality. Until now, Changwon's municipal administration has been stuck in 'caretaker-style governance' shaped by the inertia of 'parachute mayors' appointed around each election, and no mayor has truly succeeded."

The former chairpersons also expressed their firm belief that Kang Ki-yoon is the only candidate capable of securing the future of Changwon, and declared their full support for him.
They highlighted that Kang possesses a "proven three-pronged leadership" honed through real-world experience: as a two-term member of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council, he engaged closely with local grassroots sentiment, and as a two-term National Assembly member, he represented Changwon's interests in national politics and demonstrated his political acumen.
They particularly emphasized that "Kang is the only candidate who has mastered politics, business, and administration-having built a company in the Changwon National Industrial Complex as a CEO and earned recognition for his management skills as president of Korea South-East Power Co., a national public enterprise."
They added that the mayor must combine the political ability to secure budget allocations from the central government with the business acumen to attract companies and create jobs, expressing their hope that Kang Ki-yoon will demonstrate a "synergy of politics and business" that goes beyond mere administration.
In conclusion, they declared, "We will work alongside Kang Ki-yoon for the future of Changwon," and appealed to the public to rally their support behind his candidacy.
Meanwhile, on the 25th, 108 former district heads, division chiefs, and township and neighborhood heads of Changwon also announced their support for Kang Ki-yoon's candidacy.
