Jeong Eulho and Son Myungsoo from the Democratic Party Also Report Asset Increases

Driven by the bullish domestic stock market-with the KOSPI index hovering above the 6,000 mark-the wealth of National Assembly members has increased. The largest gains were observed among lawmakers who held shares in Samsung Electronics, the leading stock in the domestic market.

According to the "2026 Regular Report on Changes in National Assembly Members’ Assets (as of the end of 2025)" released by the National Assembly Public Officials Ethics Committee on March 26, a total of 14 lawmakers were found to possess securities worth over 1 billion won each (including holdings by spouses and children). The highest number was from the People Power Party with 11 lawmakers, followed by the Democratic Party of Korea (2 lawmakers) and the Reform New Party (1 lawmaker).

Among People Power Party members, Ahn Cheolsoo reported the highest amount, declaring securities worth 114.33 billion won, which included 1.86 million shares of AhnLab-the company he founded. He was followed by Yoon Sanghyun (13.93 billion won), Paek Jongmin (11.18 billion won), and Seo Myeongok (10.33 billion won), all from the same party.

Among lawmakers labeled as “stock-rich,” several benefited from the strong performance of Samsung Electronics, which drove the KOSPI rally. In particular, Koh Dongjin, a former president of Samsung Electronics, saw the total value of his holdings rise sharply due to a surge in the share price, even though the number of shares he owned decreased. His family held a total of 61,756 shares of Samsung Electronics, with the value of their securities increasing by 3.57 billion won year-on-year to reach 7.5 billion won.

In the Democratic Party of Korea, former lawmaker Jeong Eulho reported owning 9,900 shares of Samsung Electronics and other stocks, with his securities increasing by 1.08 billion won year-on-year to total 1.61 billion won. On March 3, Jeong resigned from his legislative seat after being appointed as a political affairs secretary at the presidential office.

Fellow party member Son Myungsoo declared a total of 1.53 billion won in securities, including domestic and foreign stocks such as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Orion Holdings. Lee Jooyoung of the Reform New Party was found to own securities worth 1.47 billion won, down 300 million won from the previous year.

Regarding virtual assets, Park Chungkwon of the People Power Party reported 120 million won worth of Ethereum and Bitcoin held by his spouse. Park Sumin, also of the People Power Party, was found to possess a Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon non-fungible token (NFT) valued at 100 million won. Lee Junghun of the Democratic Party and Seo Iljun of the People Power Party both reported family holdings of virtual assets, including Bitcoin, worth about 80 million won.

Independent lawmaker Lee Choonseok, who was under police investigation for alleged stock trading under borrowed names, reported no securities holdings.

Lee Junseok of the Reform New Party, who was once rumored to have raised campaign funds through cryptocurrency, declared no virtual asset holdings.
