Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province is taking full-fledged steps to establish a next-generation aerospace industry ecosystem, centered on the Aerospace National Industrial Complex Sacheon District, where academia, research institutes, and companies are clustered together.
In particular, by accelerating the creation of the "Sacheon Aerospace Cluster," which combines research and development, business support, and talent cultivation functions with the new headquarters of the Korea Aerospace Administration as its core base, the city plans to gradually expand the foundation to become the central hub of Korea's aerospace industry.
The new headquarters of the Korea Aerospace Administration is being constructed in Block A4 of the Aerospace National Industrial Complex Sacheon District, with phased construction underway aiming for completion in 2029.
The headquarters will be established as a multi-purpose base with core functions such as administrative and mission operations, infrastructure, promotional space, and convenience facilities fully integrated. Through this, it is expected to serve as the focal point for policy implementation and inter-agency cooperation across the entire aerospace industry.
In addition, Sacheon City plans to gradually build the necessary infrastructure for the clustering of academia, research institutes, and businesses around the new headquarters of the Korea Aerospace Administration.
Plans include the establishment of the Knowledge Industry Center, Satellite Development Innovation Center, and shared factories for advanced aerospace startups, creating an industrial ecosystem that supports the entire cycle from technology development to startup launch and business growth.
Business attraction results are also gradually becoming visible. Doowon Heavy Industrial is already operating its factory, exporting automotive parts, and establishing a stable production and export base.
Camp and Leaderin Aviation are also constructing factories, and as more related companies move in and expand their production bases, industrial clustering is progressing rapidly. This trend is expected to have a positive impact on local economic revitalization and job creation in the future.
An official from the city stated, "The clustering of academia, research institutes, and businesses centered around the new headquarters of the Korea Aerospace Administration is a core strategy that goes beyond simply creating an industrial complex-it will elevate the competitiveness of Korea's aerospace industry to a new level. Through continuous infrastructure expansion and business support, we will make Sacheon the undisputed aerospace capital of Korea."
