Gyeonggi Fire Department Implements 'Fire Safety Measures' Ahead of BTS Concert on the 21st

The Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters will implement fire safety support measures in anticipation of large crowds expected for the BTS comeback concert to be held on the 21st in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul.

The Fire and Disaster Headquarters of the province will, first, prioritize the mobilization of ambulances and operate an on-site situation response team on the day of the event in accordance with the National Fire Mobilization Order, thereby managing on-site situations and rescue and emergency activities in real time. In particular, to minimize any gaps in response at the scene, liaison officers will be dispatched to the Gwanghwamun on-site command post, and a close cooperation system with the Seoul Metropolitan Government will be maintained.

Additionally, in preparation for an increase in foreign visitors, multilingual safety guidance, interpretation staff support, and a system for sharing hospital bed information will be established to minimize delays in patient transfer in the event of an emergency.

The on-site response capability will also be enhanced in stages. Starting from the day of the event until 2 p.m. the following day, 12 ambulances will be pre-deployed. If the situation worsens, an additional 18 ambulances will be dispatched. Furthermore, in the event of an emergency, the highest level of fire and rescue resources, including all available ambulances, are on standby for immediate deployment. In addition, a distributed patient transport system utilizing designated hospitals within the province has been established to ensure prompt and efficient medical support even in the event of multiple casualties.

Moreover, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct a preliminary review of response plans through a video conference with the heads of 13 fire stations bordering Seoul, including Gwacheon, Seongnam, and Goyang. On the day of the event, command-level staff will remain on duty to maintain a system capable of responding immediately to changes in the situation.

Choi Yongcheol, Acting Chief of the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "Disasters do not occur simply because people gather, but when there are gaps in preparation," adding, "The entire Seoul metropolitan area will operate as a single response system to minimize any shortcomings in on-site response."

Earlier, on the 19th, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters held an emergency meeting with the Gyeonggi branch of the Korea Hotel Association and conducted fire safety inspections of lodging facilities.
