On March 18, Yeongcheon City held a welcoming ceremony at the "Independent Housing for People with Disabilities" in Jungang-dong to celebrate the beginning of independent living for new residents and to support their stable settlement in the local community.
In September of last year, a welcoming ceremony was held at the Mangjeong-dong independent housing to celebrate the first independence of a brother and sister, which was a great success.

About ten people, including officials from the Yeongcheon City Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled, which is the project implementation agency, as well as city officials, disability activity support workers, and family members, attended the welcoming ceremony to celebrate this new beginning.
The attendees offered congratulatory remarks and presented gifts as a show of encouragement, while the new residents also shared their thoughts on starting their journey toward independence.
Mr. Noh, one of the new residents, said, "Through this opportunity, I hope to build a stable independent life by living on my own. I will strengthen my ability to live independently by taking on small tasks one at a time."
Kim Mihui, Head of the Department of Social Welfare, stated, "Moving into independent housing is more than just providing accommodation; it is an important project that lays the foundation for people with disabilities to live independently. We will continue to provide support and attention so that more people with disabilities can achieve their dreams."
Meanwhile, inquiries about the "Pilot Project for Supporting Independent Living for People with Disabilities in the Community" can be directed to the Yeongcheon City Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled, which will provide detailed guidance.
