Euisun Chung Received 17.4 Billion Won in Annual Compensation from Hyundai Motor Group Last Year... Up 52% from Previous Year

Last year, it was confirmed that Euisun Chung, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, received a total annual compensation exceeding 17.4 billion won. His compensation saw a significant increase compared to the previous year, as he received not only his salary from Hyundai Motor Company but also additional compensation from Kia.


According to the business report disclosed by Hyundai Motor Company on the 18th, Chairman Chung received a total of 9.01 billion won from Hyundai Motor last year, including a salary of 4.5 billion won and bonuses and other income amounting to 4.501 billion won. This represents a 27% increase compared to the previous year (7.087 billion won).

In addition, Chairman Chung received 5.4 billion won from another affiliate, Kia, and 3.06 billion won from Hyundai Mobis. This is the first time Chairman Chung has received compensation from Kia.


When combined, Chairman Chung’s total annual compensation last year amounted to 17.461 billion won. With the addition of compensation from Kia, this represents a 51.6% increase compared to the previous year (11.518 billion won).


Hyundai Motor Company explained, "Based on the internal standards such as the executive salary table and criteria for determining executive compensation, we comprehensively reflected factors such as job position, level, years of service, leadership, expertise, contribution to the company, and talent development."


During the same period, Hyundai Motor Company Vice Chairman Jaehoon Chang’s compensation increased by 59.3% to a total of 5.416 billion won. Jose Munoz, President of Hyundai Motor Company, received 9.729 billion won, a dramatic increase of 242.7%.


Hyundai Motor Company will hold its general shareholders’ meeting on the 26th.
