Hana Securities announced on the 18th that it has been selected as a co-general partner (Co-GP) for the “Chungnam Corporate Growth Venture Fund” promoted by Korea Venture Investment Corp.
According to Hana Securities, this fund is a KRW 19.1 billion venture fund established to invest in the growth stage of companies in the Chungnam region and is scheduled to be launched within the second quarter. Hana Securities will participate as a co-general partner alongside KN Investment Partners, focusing on investing in promising companies within Chungnam’s strategic industries, such as display materials and equipment, eco-friendly automotive parts, and biotechnology.
In particular, as Daejeon Investment Finance has confirmed matching investment in this fund, the investment scope is expected to expand beyond Chungnam to include the Daejeon region. With the investment range widened to Daejeon, which is home to a concentrated infrastructure for research and development and technology-based startups, this is anticipated to further support the growth of innovative companies in the central region of Korea.
Hana Securities plans to use its participation in the management of this fund as an opportunity to expand investment in regional innovative companies, especially in the Chungcheong area. The firm aims to identify investment opportunities at each stage, from technology-based startups to growth-stage companies, thereby contributing to the activation of the regional investment ecosystem.
Recently, Hana Securities has been accelerating its supply of venture capital and investments in regional innovative companies, thereby strengthening its financial role in promoting balanced regional development. Last year, the company established the “Hana-KN Regional Innovation Investment Association,” a fund of approximately KRW 50.5 billion, and has expanded investments primarily in companies based in Jeonbuk and Chungnam.
Additionally, this past February, Hana Securities announced plans to establish the securities industry’s first private venture-of-venture fund (private indirect venture investment association). The fund is expected to be formed at a scale of about KRW 200 billion, aiming to expand the investment base not only for innovative technology companies but also for promising companies outside the Seoul metropolitan area, and to strengthen the supply of private venture capital.
Jung Younggyun, Head of the Investment Banking Group at Hana Securities, stated, “By participating in the management of the Chungnam Corporate Growth Venture Fund, we expect to expand investment opportunities for innovative companies in the Chungcheong area and contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of local industries.” He added, “We will continue to expand the supply of private venture capital to support the growth of regional innovation companies and foster balanced economic development through productive finance.”
