In connection with the conflict over the appointment of a village head in Geochang County, Gyeongsangnam-do, the police have launched a full-scale investigation, even leaving open the possibility of a compulsory investigation.

As suspicions have been raised regarding collective threats against public officials within an administrative agency, the incident is developing from a simple civil complaint into a potential criminal case.

The Geochang Police Station began its investigation immediately after the incident by securing relevant materials, and is currently verifying the facts with residents and civil servants who were in the township office at the time. In particular, the police are focusing on whether dangerous objects such as a baseball bat were possessed, whether actual threats or the exercise of force occurred, and whether there is a case for obstruction of official duties.

The police are prioritizing the collection of objective evidence, such as CCTV footage, access records, and on-site statements. If illegality is confirmed, strict legal action will be considered against all those involved. Given the seriousness of the matter, the police are broadly reviewing all applicable charges.

A police official stated, "We are thoroughly verifying the facts, focusing on whether any threatening acts took place against public officials within the administrative agency," and added, "If any illegal acts are identified, we will respond strictly in accordance with the law and established principles."
