The 'Gyeonggi Solar Bicycle Path' project is an initiative to create a lifestyle-oriented renewable energy infrastructure by installing solar power generation facilities in the unused upper space of the bicycle path, combined with citizen amenities and landscape design.

The project site covers an 840-meter entrance section of the Sihwa Barrage bicycle path at 2376 Jeongwang-dong, where a design solar power generation facility with a capacity of approximately 761.6 kW was installed. The total project cost of about 1.7 billion won was entirely funded by private capital. Notably, the 'solar income' generated from the power business is returned to citizens through various convenience facilities, such as rest areas, bicycle air pumps, exercise equipment, and night landscape lighting.

This project departs from conventional solar installation methods by adopting a wave-shaped design solar power system and LED landscape lighting that embody the waves and seagulls of Sihwa Lake, ensuring harmony with the surrounding landscape. The area has been developed as a space where citizens can enjoy rest and leisure while experiencing renewable energy firsthand.

At the completion ceremony, Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim, Siheung Mayor Byungtaek Lim, officials from SKI E&S, energy officers from cities, counties, and districts within Gyeonggi Province, local residents, and university students-over 100 people in total-gathered to share the project’s achievements.

This project was promoted as a public-private partnership led by the Gyeonggi Environmental Energy Agency, with SKI E&S and SPC Solar One Saho Co., Ltd. participating as power generators. The city collaborated by providing administrative support, developing designs reflecting the Sihwa Lake landscape, and establishing a citizen-oriented energy transition model.

Mayor Byungtaek Lim stated, "We are steadily implementing energy transition policies that citizens can experience in their daily lives," adding, "We will continue to expand various renewable energy policies to further promote the Siheung-style RE100."
