Goyang City Cheers for Goyang Sono Skygunners’ Playoff Bid

Goyang Sono Skygunners, the professional basketball team based in Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province, is continuing its winning streak with seven consecutive victories, demonstrating unstoppable momentum toward the team’s first playoff appearance since its founding.

According to Goyang City on March 16, Goyang Sono has recorded a 10-1 win-loss record from February to March 15, securing a tie for fifth place in the league.

On March 15, Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, attended the home game against Seoul Samsung at Goyang Sono Arena to encourage the team. He boosted the players' morale by cheering for Goyang Sono’s playoff qualification alongside citizens and shared in the joy of victory.

The team’s winning streak has been fueled by ace player Lee Junghyun’s explosive scoring ability, veteran Lee Jaedo’s seasoned game management, and strong outside support, all coming together in perfect harmony.

This marks the first time a Goyang-based professional team is advancing to the playoffs since Goyang Orions’ championship win in 2016 and Goyang Day One Jumpers’ advancement to the semifinals in 2023.

Meanwhile, the 2025-2026 professional basketball playoffs for the top six teams are scheduled to begin on April 12.
