This public project was first introduced in 2025. Following a pilot run last year with three parent associations from local schools, which resulted in increased parental participation and positive support for school educational activities, the city plans to expand the support this year to five parent associations.

The city will comprehensively review the appropriateness of the parent associations’ activity plans and their contribution to improving school education programs. Based on this evaluation, five parent associations from elementary, middle, and high schools within the city will be selected, and each will receive KRW 2 million in operating funds for their activities.

Through this initiative, Dongducheon City plans to gather feedback from parents on various educational matters, such as providing input on school operations and monitoring educational programs. In addition, by strengthening parental educational capacity, the city expects to enhance the role and pride of parents as key stakeholders in education, thereby contributing to the creation of a healthier educational environment.
