To enhance the competitiveness of traditional liquor producers, the city will provide a total of 55 million won in support funds, covering shipping costs, packaging expenses, product development costs, and promotional and marketing costs.
Yongin is known as a city with a strong foundation in the traditional liquor industry. Among local governments in Gyeonggi Province, Yongin has the highest number of licensed liquor manufacturers, and many companies from the area have won awards at the Korea Liquor Awards.
As a result, the value and reputation of traditional liquor continue to rise both domestically and internationally. Some products have even been offered at restaurants operated by renowned chefs listed in the Michelin Guide. Yongin also uses the largest volume of Gyeonggi rice, contributing to the expansion of local agricultural product consumption and increasing farmers' income.
Liquor manufacturers in Yongin used approximately 240 tons of locally produced rice last year. This year, it is expected that about 340 tons of rice will be used in product manufacturing, making this a representative example of coexistence between local agriculture and the traditional liquor industry.
To further vitalize the traditional liquor industry, the city is implementing a variety of support measures, such as the 'Gyeonggi Rice Purchase Price Difference Support Project', which provides a subsidy of 320 won per kilogram for locally produced rice, as well as facility improvement support for agri-food processing businesses and traveling brewery projects.
A Yongin City official stated, "During the last Lunar New Year, the city hosted a gift set sales event for public officials, featuring local traditional liquor and agricultural products. We sold gift sets worth 25 million won, which helped to stimulate the local economy and boost the consumption of local specialties. We will continue to develop diverse support policies to foster the growth of the traditional liquor industry and local agriculture, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the local economy."
